Latest NewsBusy! Busy! Busy!
Due to a shortage of teachers this last term, I have been extremely busy. Too busy to keep up my blogs. We are supposed to be getting a new teacher next term, so hopefully that will pan out, giving me more time to keep this updated. Datong's New Bullet Train Station
When I returned to Datong in 2010, they had laid out plans to build a station and connecting tracks between here, Taiyuan, and Beijing. Estimated completion time was 2015. As of 2019 it still is not finished. I did read on the website that they have employed 400 extra workers this year with the goal of opening the station in November of this year. The current train to Beijing takes about 7 hours; the new bullet train will cut that to 100 minutes. The flight only takes 40 minutes, but when you count in the extra time needed for going through checkin and security, the overall time will be much less when taking the train. Looking forward to it finally opening up. Pics in album on the left. As you can see from the bottom pic, it is extremely close to my house: about 1.2 miles.
